Gravells – Children In Need

Gravells staff had a pyjama party at their showrooms on Friday for Children In Need.  Gravells collected £350.00 from donations from staff and customers.  This was done by selling Pudsey Bear Badges and a ‘guess the number of balloons in the car’ competition.  Also, there was a visit by ‘Grizzly Gravell’ the Gravells Mascot.

Gravells matched the £350.00 donated and are proud to announce that a grand total of £700.00 has been raised for the Children In Need charity.

Gravells Kia expand into Pembrokeshire - Narberth

A new £2 million state of the art garage has just opened in Redstone Road, Narberth, the first new garage to be built in Pembrokeshire recently.

The new facility comprises of an eight car showroom, a fifty car used car display and a 6 bay workshop including automated MOT centre.

Built to manufacturers standards, the impressive building houses all the facilities demanded by both Kia and Renault, new jobs will be created and Gravells will offer customers courtesy bicycles to ride into Narberth – part of the Gravells environmental policy. The facility uses rainwater management and waste oil recycling to heat it.

Commented David Gravell, the Chairman of Gravells, on the latest expansion;

“I’m not sure when the right time to expand is, but with Renault and Kia we have got 2 excellent franchise and it was time to increase our sales in Pembrokeshire.

As a group, we are investing over £5 million to develop our sites to provide better service to our customers and the facilities meet manufacturers’ objectives. As a family business, we remember our beginnings and the Black Shed at which Tom Gravell started selling cars in 1932 is still standing at our Kidwelly site”.

Commented Ian Gravell, General Manager at Gravells in Narberth;

“Narberth is a vital part of the Pembrokeshire economy and it was a natural progession for Gravells to open here. Despite the economical climate we are still expanding and are proud to open this new facility in Narberth. With the interest in scrappage, it is definitely the right time with Kia!

Gravells sell over 1500 new cars in a year and over 4000 used cars and employ in excess of a 100 people across its sites and is the UK’s Oldest Renault Dealer. Gravells are very proud of their business in Wales and are keen to promote the Welsh language with their bilingual policy.

Gravells is an old established company with headquarters in Kidwelly and is in the Top 200 companies in Wales and the largest motor dealer in West Wales.

Gravells was founded in 1932 by the late Tom Gravell, who apart from being a garage owner, devoted a lot of time to establishing links with Patagonia, he visited Patagonia 13 times and made a lot of friends there. He contributed a great deal to his native Kidwelly, twice mayor of the ancient borough and was influential after the second world war in bringing the British American Optical Company to Kidwelly, which in its heyday employed 1000 local people. Mr Gravell was awarded the MBE for Service to the Kidwelly Community and the Patagonian Welsh. The third generation of Gravells now run the business with Jonathan Gravell in charge of the Kidwelly and Swansea operation and Ian Gravell looking after Pembrokeshire.

Kidwelly Expansion
Gravells acquires 7 acre site for expansion and further development at Kidwelly. Gravells have received approval to redevelop the existing Gravells Direct site to build a new environmentally friendly aftersales facility containing 18 workshop lifts, parts storage area, new car showroom and enhanced vehicle display area for over 200 cars. This development will increase Gravells' carbon neutral activities through providing renewable energy power sources and improved waste management. We are currently completing our build plan and aim to be operational at the new site from Autumn 2008.

David Gravell, Managing Director "This new development provides an opportunity to increase our customer satisfaction levels and provide greater servicing capacity. We already sell the most new cars in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire, this development allows us to meet servicing requirements of our growing customer base."

Jonathan Gravell, General Manager "This is a flagship development for Kidwelly and Carmarthenshire, we celebrated 75 years in business this year and this demonstrates the growing success of Gravells."
